Every figure Monster Cleaning Edgware charges sits on this page. The same numbers apply in a Watling Estate house, a 1930s semi off the High Street, a flat near the station and a detached property on the Edgwarebury lanes. Not one of them is a teaser designed to get a van onto your drive. Where a job looks unusual, you hear about it while booking rather than afterwards.

End of tenancy

Banded on property size and agreed before a slot goes in the diary. The clock plays no part, so a roomy two bedroom bills as a cramped one does and an overrun lands on us. Count a loft room in the total where it is let as a bedroom. Do not count a second bathroom. Two lines stand outside the band on this round, the oven and the floors, both quoted apart because a fair share of handovers here need neither. Carpet cleaning

Walkable after roughly two hours and dry through by next morning, longer in a ground floor room sitting over a ventilated timber void. Where two front rooms were knocked together, that bills as a single through lounge at £61 instead of as a pair, which comes up constantly in these semis. A staircase turning on a half landing counts as one flight; a converted loft brings a second staircase and a second £41. The rinse gets softened and the fibre neutralised at no cost, and the moisture setting drops over parquet and old boards. The carpet page deals with drying and lists what will not lift.

Oven cleaning

One figure for each appliance. A built in single with a grill box over the top of it remains a single, and a double is a single appliance and not a pair. Whatever lifts out goes to the heated tank; the cavity, the glass and the seals stay where they are for hand work at your worktop. Everything gets rinsed and neutralised before the kit is packed, so the oven is usable that evening. The £143 AGA must be cold on arrival, so switch it off the night before. Catalytic and pyrolytic liners never get dipped, and the oven page lists the rest of what stays out of the tank.

Regular cleaning

Two hours bills at £44 on the weekly rate and four at £88, with two the shortest visit we run before the journey outweighs the work. No call out charge and no VAT. Ironing at £12 spends time already paid for, so every hour at the board is an hour the house goes without. A converted loft usually adds an hour, given the extra bedroom, the ensuite and the second staircase. The regular cleaning page sets out what each length of visit really covers.

One off deep clean

The table comes out of three numbers: £26 per cleaner an hour, a floor of two cleaners across three hours, and £30 covering machines and detergents. Smallest booking £186, largest £498. Upholstery and curtains

Per piece, never per room and never by the hour. Curtains get cleaned where they hang, and long drops turn up more often in the bigger houses at the north end of the round. Larger or awkward items are quoted on the call, since fabric type and whether the backs lift off decide between an hour and an afternoon. Leather gets a cleaner and a conditioner by hand and never meets a machine.

The minimum on one off work

£67. Most bookings sail past it without anybody noticing. The exceptions are a lone carpeted bedroom at £36, a single armchair at £33, or one rug at £35 ordered on its own. The rule does not touch hourly work at all, which is why a two hour weekly visit really does come to £44. Book two small jobs into one morning and the floor applies once, putting that bedroom carpet back to £36.

Not charged for

Driving to you, anywhere on the round, so crossing into Harrow at Stanmore or into NW7 at Mill Hill costs nothing. Descaling, which in this water is most of a bathroom. Softening the rinse and neutralising the fibre after extraction. Running the hose round the edge of a gravel drive and laying a mat at the door, which takes two minutes and saves your hall carpet. The twenty minutes spent shifting boxes out of the way before a deep clean can start, within reason. Weekends and evenings, since one rate covers 8am to 8pm on all seven days. And the return visit inside 48 hours where a clerk has queried something we cleaned.

Beyond the list

There is no figure that buys a proper ladder, a gutter, or upstairs glass from the outside. Lofts, garages, gardens, patios and rubbish beyond a bag or two are off the list altogether, as is a live building site. Sanding or sealing parquet is joinery, even though keeping water off it is very much our business. Under our terms permits and parking charges fall to you, which matters near the station where Barnet runs permit-controlled streets and the Broadwalk Centre works keep shifting the access. Where a property is in genuinely poor condition it gets quoted hourly as a deep clean instead of on the banded scale, and that gets discussed on the phone before anything is agreed.

Questions we get asked

Is VAT added to these prices?

No. What is printed is what leaves your account. There is no call out fee, no VAT waiting at the end, and Saturday bills as Tuesday does. Evenings have no separate rate and mileage never gets charged.

How and when does payment work?

On completion: card, bank transfer or cash, and Visa, Mastercard and Amex are all accepted. Regulars mostly settle monthly by transfer, agents and landlords take an invoice, and domestic work asks for nothing up front.

Can the figure move once you have seen the house?

Only where what turns up is materially different from the job you described, and then you hear about it before a cloth comes out. Ordinary living wear will not shift a handover price. The two lines quoted apart are the oven and the floors.

Who pays for parking?

Under our terms that falls to you, and it comes up at the booking rather than on the invoice. Front drives cover most of the round so it seldom arises. Around the station, where Barnet runs permit-controlled streets, the permit is sorted at our end.

Why are the oven and the carpets outside the end of tenancy price?

Because plenty of handovers here need neither, and folding them in would charge those households for work they never asked for. A single oven is £77 and a bedroom carpet £36, added to the same visit where the inventory calls for them.
